Spread Good News, Instill Pride

Spread Good News, Instill Pride

Can you imagine if all team members made a daily effort to remind members of the club’s successes?

Members join a club to fulfill needs and values in their lives. The club is a member’s happy place. A place where a member looks forward to having expectations satisfied. With this always in mind, team members hold the key to meeting expectations through excellent customer service, warm hospitality and positive communications. Although we have specific skills and tasks to be executed daily, equally important in our job description is enthusiastic engagement.

In an effort to foster a positive, upbeat environment, for both members and team members, it is an important strategy to spread goodwill as often as possible. True, there are moments, even days, we prefer to be crabby but unfortunately our country club job description does not include crabby.

When member’s chit chat negatively about anything club-related, the team is to do their best not to engage. Instead refocus the conversation to the club successes, e.g. everyone is talking about the greens in great condition, chef knocked it out of the ball park last night with his pasta special, an upcoming club party already has over 100 RSVP’s, the golf staff added a new clinic to the schedule. Whatever it may be, a team member’s positive communication reveals their pride in the club, and this is influential and contagious.

Team members working together to spread goodwill absolutely have the ability to instill pride, meet member expectations and enhance club culture. This results in a happy place all around, most importantly for team members who spend more time at the club than the member.

It is said that by surrounding yourself with positive people, you live longer, too!
